6 hour flight at Cape Lookout 6/4/17

Cape Lookout Sunday Report (Sunday Jun 4th, 2017)

 This is a video from yesterday at Cape Lookout.  Six hour video squeezed into a few minutes footage. I captured an airplane flying over the tip of the Cape (@ 00:30 ) and also 5 lined up helicopters  coming in (@ 00:40) flew over to the back side of Cape Lookout.

Once again it was another spectacular day similar to the condition of Saturday, but with more sun and more pilots. The hang gliders who came out were: Stas, Ray B, Gabe D, Greg K, Jeff H , myself) and approx 20 other PGs.    Lifts and thermals were not as good as Saturday (Jun 3rd) but still good enough for me to fly for almost 6 hrs from 12:05 to 6PM. Maximum lift reach was 1800ft (Saturday was 2,200ft).   I broke my longest flight of 5 hours that I made from 28 years ago at Kagle Mtn (Southern Calf).

 Just recheck my Gopro launch and landing time. Actually, I was up for 4.5 hrs (12:15 to 4:45PM) 

A truly spectacular day at Cape Lookout especially with a flight that lasted 4 hrs and 30mins (12:15 to 4:45PM). The condition was very friendly for paragliders too.  Everyone was able to climb up easily , and many paras made it to the end of the cape and few were flying to North point.  Four of us hangs ( Ray, Neil, Stas and myself) and a dozen PGs came out today, and we all had great long flights. I'll post video and photos later

One of the best ever. I was flying to the salmon hatchery and east into the foothills toward Tillamook. Lots of thermals in the clearcuts. Plenty of beach all day. Let's do it again tomorrow. Ray

2 flights / Almost two hrs at Oceanside and Cape Lookout 6/2/17

1st flight at Oceanside
It was a very warm with light wind at Oceanside early afternoon today.   Winds was about 3-5mph out of west and WSW at launch and less wind at the beach.  I launched at 12:45pm and was able to climb up to 200ft above launch. The ridge lifts were very narrow but consistent if l don't go too far. I flew for a bit over an hour alone and it felt kind of boring being at the same spot and same altitude (between 100-200 ft above launch) for over an hour.

I was flying alone at Cape Lookout again. Although the wind was very light but ut didn't disappoint me. I launched at around 4:30PM and got up to cloudbase which is 950ft AGL in the middle of the Cape.
