Dog Mt 6/30/18 Saturday report :

It was blowing strong west when l arrived Dog LZ at 11:45PM. The sky was overcast with high cloud ceiling as shown in the photos.  I launched after Alan and Kt.at 1:15 pm; they both had great soaring flights climbing a few hundred feet above launch. Kt landed at the north direction with good approach and landing. Four PGs showed up before I launched, but didn't fly due to the wind conditions being too strong and gusty (approx 15-20 West and switchy to NW and North sometime).  I was able to soar to the north ridge, got up to 800ft above launch and flew to Elk across the lake shortly.  Lifts were pretty consistent over Elk. My maximum altitude was about 3,300ft MSL.  (1,100ft above launch).  I cruised  around between Elk and North ridge a couple of times before coming to land two hrs later in light north wind direction. The sky was looking gloomy and rain was heading in around 5:00pm  from Morton, so everyone passed on doing a late evening flight. Light rain finally arrived around 6:00pm. So for today, only 3 hangs flew.

  1. good man! the area looks as pretty as ever. by the North ridge you mean the towers behind Dog, or the ridge fully on the other side of the valley? If that's the case, double wow!
