2 flights 2 hrs 8/26 & 27 Rampart

Video Link:

Awesome flights at Rampart over the Aug 26th, 2017 weekend.

Once again thanks to Chad for driving us today. Four hangs (Luis, Shah, Rob A and myself) and one paraglider flew on Sat and 5 hangs (Alfredo, Ron B , Rob A , Shah and myself) and approximately half dozen of paragliders came out to play on Sunday.

Sat report:
Once again thanks to Chad for driving us today. The winds at launch plus LZ was kind of light and weak thermals. I launched first at 3:00pm and it was barely soarable so none of us were able to make it to the cliff wall. Everyone landed north direction on the Carrier Deck LZ all surrounded by the deep water. As you can see from the pics below the Carrier Deck was completely dry.

Sun:
We arrived launch around 2 PM , winds was very light and a bit cross from SW (left side). There were paragliders at various altitudes and we heard from the radio they got up to 7K and few went to Alta. We launched around 3PM. Alfredo ,Ron and l went to the wall and got up to almost 6500ft ( 2K above hang launch). It was very fun air and congrats to Rob A getting his first soaring flights at Rampart. Rob reached 6K (about 1400ft over launch) and perfect landing on the carrier deck.

2 hrs flight at Dog Mt (Glenoma, Wa) 8/14/17 Monday

My Gopro has a dead battery yesterday, only captures first 15 minutes of my flight.

Three hangs (Carmela, Eron & Kt) were in the sky when I arrived Dog LZ around 2:30PM yesterday.  I went up with Tim C and Steve D around 3:30PM and I had two hours evening flight from 5:15 to 7:30PM. The wind conditions was light west, cloudy sky and turned light north around 7pm with only 0-3mph winds. Didn't produce much of ridge lifts but thermals was consistent.  I've topped out at 800ft above launch ( 3,000 ft MSL) and headed across the lake to Elk Mt. with plenty of altitude but pretty much dead clam over there. Thermals over the Back Bowl was much better earlier. Winds was coming 0-2mph from east at the LZ when I landed around 7:30pm.

3 hrs Dog Mt 8/12/17

About 15 pilots showed up at Dog Mt. Most of us had 1-3 hours flight.  My flight last it from 4:30 to 7:30pm.   The conditions were strong and turbulent with smoother air as the day went on. Maximum altitude gain was 3,450ft MSL (1,300 ft above launch).  I made it to the Radio Towers and due to the rowdy air ,  headed back to launch. The air was finally nice and buoyant around 6:30 till sunset. Watch the video for the rest.

The pilots who attended:
Gary B, Thomas H, Chad, Luis R, Chi T, Gabe D, Alex, Sunny Jim, Dave Chawick, Carmela M, Kim S (PG), Steven Danielson and myself.

2 and 1/4 hrs flight at Dog Mt (Glenoma, WA) 8/11/17 Friday

The wind flow was strong but the air still very hazy and smokey

Dog was good tonight.  I flew for over 2 hrs from 5:20 to 7:45pm. I launched 30mins after Pg Kim and we were only getting 200-300ft above launch during the first hour. I went to the back bowl and reached 450ft above launch. Strong west and NW winds so the first part of the north ridge was working later too.  It got much better after 6pm when Kim already landed. I went to Elk and got more than an hour Elk session all by myself.  I probably launch after 5pm tomorrow (Sat)  too. My phone won't work at Dog or Morton. Using WiFi for email only.

FYI: There were big group of camper came late evening and setup 3-4 big  tents on our parking area. It looks like more are coming tonight or tomorrow (photos enclosed). Better land short this weekend.

5 flights 8 hrs / Smoky and hazy weekend at Dog Mt (Glenoma,WA) Aug 4 to 6, 2017

Friday
Got 2 flights today
Total of 3 hrs
Smoky and hazy skies cover Dog Mt. today (4 pics enclosed) but it clearing up around 7:30pm. Typical Dog summer soarable condition. North ridge and Elk was working for short time.  5 hangs (Ron, Glenn, Thomas, Tim D and myself) and 2 bags (Kim & Alan) flew. Nothing epic.

Saturday
Visited Paraglider Jerry Devlin at Sharon Care Center in Centralia, Wash  and than returned back to Dog Mt. again. Had a evening flight with Chad, Tina, Mike (from Colorado), Stas, Rob A, Thomas , Tim D and Ron.

Sunday
It was soarable from noon to sunset. I got in 2 flights today (Sunday). Winds didn't switch north.

1st flight from 1 - 3pm
2nd flight from 6 - 7:30pm

Although MM5 was calling to be amazing at Dog today, in reality it turned out MM5 wasn't accurate at all again. About 12 hangs flew early afternoon, which includes tandem passenger Larry's granddaughter Hazelnut.  Lifts were only up to 200-300ft above launch; Stas, Justin and l got 400ft above launch over the South bowl; Nothing over Elk. The skies were even more hazy than Saturday, and also very humid at the ground.

Second group (about 10 hangs) launched after 6pm, a few maintained a couple hundred feet above launch. Air was smooth and lifts were very light. Nobody went to the back bowl or Elk.  I'll post pics and video later.
