Cliffside (Rufus, OR) 11/30/19 (Saturday) report:
Sadly, I'd witnessed yet another PG pilot crash this morning at Cliffside. He smacked down pretty hard on the hillside at about 100 ft behind launch. . Paramedics arrived less than 30 minutes sending him to the hospital. He wasn't able to move after the impact and was in a lot of pain. I can only hope that his injuries aren't as serious as it appeared. Other than that, the flying conditions were light and smooth for everyone (PGs & Hangs). . The wind was much lighter than the forecast predicted, approx 20-30 paragliders and 5 hang gliders (Carmela Moreno, Kory McEniry, Gabe Dinum Tim Bugge and myself) all shared the ridge lifts at pretty much the same time. Nobody was able to make it to the top ridge due to excess east winds. It really turned on around 2pm, I was first to launch flying for 2 hours. Thermals became better towards the end, while I reached 1,900 ft with Tim Bugge. I think Tim flew for 1.5 hrs and all the hangs landed by the river. l landed right after Tim so he was able to film my landing, Thanks for the video Tim. The second video is flying with Kory McEniry and air traffic.
