2.5 hrs Oceanside 11/17/17

Facebook live

Oceanside was awesome today. Ray and I had almost 3 hours flight. It was pretty light day but lifts was everywhere from back bowl to Cape Meares and Happy Camp. Ray got 1,800ft over Cape Meares and l got 1,300ft over the Back bowl. Countless trips to Happy Camp. Launch conditions was very friendly for hangs too. The winds were blowing straight up 5mph west when we launched around 12:30pm. It reminded straight west all afternoon. Just do the regular usual run from the center of the PG launch pad to get airborned. It was 90 degree cross winds whole day at the beach but plenty of room for landing.

Oceanside was awesome today.  Ray and I had almost 3 hours flight.
Today report from paraglider Mark Sanzone:
Fabulous!  Easy soaring from morning to dark. Two hangs (Rick, Ray) and a bunch of bags (Mike C, Vince, Jay, big Nick, Alan, Gary, Sarge, Kraske, me, ?).  Lots of sunshine!
I had my best Oceanside flight ever!  First time I have made it back after going to the lighthouse (kudos to Jay for leading the way).  I was the last to land (a few seconds after Vince) after we watched a beautiful sunset from the air.  I was up just shy of 4 hours.

one hour 2 flights 11/06/17 Cliffside

Cliffside video

I left PDX at 8:30am. The weather was awful from Cascade Rock to The Dalles. It was pouring rain and foggy. Mark Rabe send me a picture from his front yard in Goldendale at 9:30 that showed Cliffside launch was gloomy and dead wind. Forecasts said rain ended around 10am and it should be sunny later with good wind direction. Once I getting closer to The Biggs. Everything changed from bad to good. I few twice today, first flight l launched at 12 and flew for 40 mins and got few hundred feet above launch, second flight launched at 3pm was up for 20 mins. It seems like the best lifts was in the morning and kind of shutdown during afternoon until an hour before sunset. Alfredo launched at 4pm (last hang to launch) and he got the flight of the day. I think the top of lift went to about 300-800ft above launch till sunset. He just landed at 4:55pm. Also, Congrats to visitor pilot Ephi who had his first flight at Cliffside. Tomorrow looks promising for some more air time at Cliffside. Two hangs will be here.

1.5 hour 11/04/17 Upper Peterson

Clouds surfing video at Peterson Butte (Lebanon,OR)

Rick Weber & I showed up at Mr Rocky's property (Upper launch LZ) around 9:30am and found no wind. At the upper launch (1,000ft AGL) , the wind was coming up the hill nicely but was pretty weak, so we hang waited for about 1.5 hours for conditions to get stronger. At around noon, Rick W went first and I followed in approx 10mph SSW (a bit cross from right). We experienced plenty of smooth ridge lifts for an easy climb to 800ft over launch and lots of clouds rolling in below us for some enjoyable cloud surfing sessions. We boated around the butte between 800 to 1,100 ft over the upper launch (2,300ft MSL) during the flight. There was 2-3 PGs in the air earlier who didn't bench up to the upper launch? and also they didn't stay up too long either. I think the wind got too strong for them. Wind speed kept increasing and it became more chilly so we ended our flight after 1.5 hrs later. It feel like blowing 25-30mph at 2,300 ft MSL. Craig DeMott ( HG pilot) punched off at the lower launch when I was out to land, so he had the entire lower butte by himself and a nice soarable flight too. After I landed , l didn't see Craig or anyone in the air.
