Rampart was awesome yesterday (Thursday). I launched at 3:30pm and flew for over two hrs with Robin BriejerVincent CrowKt Bigelow , Glenn Duvaland Ron Barbera. Thermals everywhere from launch to both walls and Alta. Robin and l went to Alta got up to 7,600 ft. We all landed on Carrier Deck.Congratulations to Vincent and Kt have their first Rampart epic flight.

A spectacular day at Rampart! I was first to launch at 3 pm in 5-10 mph straight wind, followed by Vincent CrowLuis Ramos and Jimmy Culler. It was an easy climb for everyone topping between 5,000 to 6,000 ft. After an hour plus of cruising between both walls and Alta , we encountered a big wind shear that took us up to 11,000 ft. Vincent found it first in front of the first wall around 4:20 pm and everyone followed him skying out to 9,000 - 10,000ft. Quite remarkable to get that altitude at Rampart. The winds were blowing normal NW approximately 10-15 mph below 8,000 ft. ,but it was blowing very strong in opposite south direction 20-25 mph between 8,000 -11,000 ft. The south wind pushed me to the north of the valley at 10,000 ft , Vincent and I was flying almost backwards even with full VG on at 10,000 ft. It was smooth air/lifts and not hard to get out of that wind shear. What a day! I wished more pilots were there to share the experience with the 4 of us. Thanks again to Ron Barberadriving for us. Regarding the landing conditions, it was rowdy as hell even when we landed after 5:30 pm, with gusty and cross winds from NE. I'll share video and pics later. Few pics here from today.
