Bingen hike and flight with John Dorrance at 12/1/17

John Dorrance (Biwingle pilot from Virginia) and l arrived Cliffside at 8am to sunny skies with light west winds just as forecast predicted.  Most of windmills on top were facing WNW with a few facing west that appears to be soarable later.  We were supposed to meet up with Alfredo in Goldendale, if it weren't for his Trooper breaking down near Ellensburg.  Without a 4X4 vehicle to head up the 3K west launch,  John and I've decided to give Bingen a try.  After hiked up to west launch, we waited an hour at the west launch for the heavy fog to burn off.  Winds were dead calm at the LZ and launch; a highly predictable chance of sledders.  John launched his paraglider first at 1:00pm and l followed 10 mins afterwards. We had buoyant flights with nice landings.  My flight ended up being a long extended sledder. l flew to the Oregon side , returned back to the LZ and still got 800ft AGL altitude. With zero wind, we could pretty much land in any direction.   Since it was John's first paraglider fly at Bingen, l offered to drive him up for a second flight.  So he flew twice to end the day.  Currently, he is spending the night at the Dalles and up to flying Bingen again, or any nearby doable sites tomorrow if weather permits. So if anyone interested to fly with John, get in touch (He only bought his paraglider this time).
