1.5 hour Tierra Del Mar flight 04/09/19.

Flying sites in Pacific NorthWest:
Where to learn Hang Gliding in Pacific Northwest:

Thanks to Bob Horning for rescuing me this morning at Hillsboro when I had a flat tire; otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to get a good flight in today. Bob and I arrived Cape Lookout 11:15 am with winds blowing 15+ mph at 10 degree across from the left so we headed down to Tierra Del Mar. We arrived TDM launch at 12pm. Sunny skies and wind speed was about 15-18 mph WNW. A bit crossed from the right, but that didn't affect the soaring conditions. I was first to punch off at 12:45 pm with Bob following and paraglider Mike Canifex present to help. I got in 1.5 hrs of flying and we both landed around the same time at 2:15pm. We flew to Cape Kiwanda and was high enough to capture the beautiful view of Pacific City. Rain came right after we packed up our glider inside the rain bag at 3pm.
Thanks to PG Laren Hale and another guy ( sorry forgot name) who provided us a ride. Laren flew his PG while we were flying TDM and had a shore soarable flight as well. He said it was too strong for PG and he was able make it to the gazebo.
I'd returned to CLO at 3:15 and winds by then had died down quite a bit with trees motionless. High tide arrived at 5pm with 9ft waves and beach land already under water at 3:30pm, so we decided to call it a day. The bailout LZ beach down below CLO launch also under water (1.5 hrs before high tide) so we definitely lost tons of sand this year.
