Strong winds day at Area B /Fort Steven State Park:
Scott M and l had a wonderful time dune gooning at Area B today. Got there at 11 am and it was warm , strong wind and sunny most of the time. The wind speed and direction was perfect for hangs (approx 20-25mph). I took a short flight and landed, as I noticed squalls approaching but turns out being just a few sprinkles. The wind became more SW or WSW and windspeed increased to 25-38 mph at top of the dune. It was very challenging carry the glider to the dune without any assistance. After an hour of hang waiting alone, Scott arrived. I decided to walk halfway to the bottom dune to punch off since the wind speed was 10 degrees less compared to the highest spot dune. It was blowing 20-25 mph when I punched off and was very easy get up high to soar the entire dune. Me and Scott flew 3 to 4 times. TDR , Moolack, Oceanside looks good tomorrow. I might go down to Moolack tomorrow.
